opportunity calls
We made the first draft of kids Kirby wants to invite to his birthday party. As expected, two thirds of the names were mentioned, due to him feeling bad for them not having been invited last year or not being that popular in school due to them being the soccer team kids, that taunt others for their lack of talent/interest in the sport. We asked him to think about their inclusion, because if any of them are coming, that birthday baseball game is going to be rough—we had a similar situation last year, and now two families can't enter the venue until the coming summer.
Kirby and the Wife watched an ice skating show. We anticipated Kirby to loose interest during the intermission, and it seemed to come true, then he got the chance to watch the proceedings next to the »stage«, and there he spent the second half in awe of the performances and costumes.
On the way home i picked up two more volumes of Dogman. Which he promised to read slowly.
The latest issue of Fleischmagazin1 has an article on people returning/joining the catholic church. To strengthen their xenophobia is one, the search for answers/safety another dominant reason. Safety in numbers, i can understand, answers on the other hand, where should the catholic church get answers from? They could answer to so many topics one of the aspects of their boss already addressed, which are even written down in their guidebook, and they choose to keep their mouths shut every time the opportunity presents itself. Aside from all the other failings of their boys club, how can someone hope for true answers? I hope the personal closest to their members is doing their best to actually help, and not just wax lyrically about how to love your neighbour.
