Dispatches from Asteroid Hopkins

who you gonna call?

Baseball training revealed how wrong we treat our kids. The girls trained in a group, and while they laughed and had fun, they were disciplined and precise. The boys goofed around more than they actually trained, got called out, tried to be disciplined and precise for a short while, and started goofing around again. A parent said "That's due to their gender." And while i agree, that genetics is one of the reasons, it's also how they were raised. When a girl was "caught" at loosing focus, she got called out for it, the boys had more leeway until coach got fed up. All of the kids impressed me, with their command of the game. At the test game, everyone gave the best they had at the moment; and in two cases, the realization, that it wasn't enough even led to tears, that they held back until it was over. Don't know if that was good or bad or normal, it impressed me, that they stayed in the zone, and afterwards were able to express and named what caused their sadness.

Even after seven hours of sleep, i felt exhausted. At various times of the day, my eyes started falling shut and i dozed off for a few moments; yet, i couldn't fall asleep before midnight when the day started to wind down. I don't know, who to ask for help to find out what is wrong with me.

Started the third collection of The immortal Thor, and it's still fun to read. Lots and lots of setup at the moment, but at the moment i'm not bored by it.
