Dispatches from Asteroid Hopkins

treated like a holy relic

Couldn't sleep, so i watched Predator: Badlands -- which i had forgotten existed, and i was looking forward to after seeing Prey. It's an entertaining movie on the one hand, and infuriated me on the other. The whole world building is illogical, which i already had a problem with in Killer of Killers, but it wasn't the point there, it is here to a certain degree, and such a highly advanced species, living on such a barren world … i guess it just jumpstarted the »please explain« part of my brain, do they live in a Warhammer 40k like scenario, where every piece of technology is treated like a holy relic because they can't replace it with new parts? And, yeah, the whole thing is tied to Alien now…
Anyway, the lighter tone fits oddly well, it just feels like a comicbook movie -- the whole thing felt like something out of Dark Horse's offerings from back in the day, sprinkled with the Marvel quips, and emotional Androids.

Watched an interview with Matt Fraction about his Batman work1 before giving sleep another try, thinking about if Fraction will ever continue Casanova.

Kirby and i watched a Lego building video again, that we want to use as a base to build our own diorama. Kirby is working on ideas for a scene2. While he did that, we both built some alien beings with whatever parts we had lying around. It was interesting to witness, how that limitation became almost irrelevant, once one thing felt decided on/finished.
