back on the field
Hauling around stuff and acting like a cruise missile at work was nice. Just let those 20 years on the job take over and figure things out was a good alternative to the recent madness.
Looked for a used field recorder, and found a used Tascam FR-AV2. Since i got rid of my Zoom H6 two years ago, i missed a recorder i could hook up to a computer for recordings, and a project at Kirby's school came up, for which interviews need to be conducted, and since i have a few microphones lying around and a basic understanding on how to use them, i volunteered to do the sound engineering. I'm looking forward to the 32bit floating point magic, that the Tascam is able to record at. Thought of using two SM58 with cloudlifters, since i only have one shotgun mic for overhead recording. For ambiance i consider using a pair of Clippys—Primo EM172 capsules with custom electronics, like the microphones from LOM—on a Sony recorder. I have no idea if the interviews will be filmed; if that's the case, i consider borrowing a set of wireless microphones from Rode or DJI or Hollyland. Hmmm, i guess no matter if it's filmed or just recorded, it'll be easier to just use the wireless microphones. Already know where i can borrow a set. Only reason i don't like those, is that the batteries in them is probably only removable by jumping through a few hoops.
Finished reading Chip Zdarsky's Batman. There have been better ones, there have been worse ones, Batman is still in publication. The whole thing started out strong, asked some interesting questions, which it only answered partially. What it made me realize is, how convoluted Batman has become over the last couple of years. Yeah, it's a feature, but sometimes, it feels like a wall.
Kirby wants to buy Turtles toys. I do too.
