«New» X-Men
Finished reading the New X-Men Omnibus. It feels oddly contemporary, like it wasn't published 22 years ago—i guess we're at a point, where Marvel gives van Sciver an illustration job again.
The reveal didn't bother me as much this time as back then—thanks to Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men[^xplain], i noticed the hints—; the last arc … phew, that's hard. Was it The Surface which ended with an issue in which author Ales Kot explained that he threw the thing overboard and it becomes a class in developing ideas; if i remember it right. Anyways, it would be interesting to find out, how it came to this ending.
It was fun to read the whole run again in a few evenings. It was shocking to see, how dense the comic is, which it didn't feel like, when i read it through its three year run.
Another thought i had while reading this was, how it would look if Frank Quietly would have drawn it after All-Star Superman or Jupiter's Legacy.
Oh, and could the cows be Skrulls from Fantastic Four no.2 (1961)?[^skrullcows] A quick search later i found out: no, they are not; forgot about Skrull Kill Crew.
Here are a few impressions:
