Club Obi-Wan
«Don't buy Indiana Jones.» the Wife casually mentioned, when i called her for a Yay or Nay to changing our electricity provider. I thought she mentioned it to remind me, that it won't fix my self image, and i told her, i haven't thought about buying it for a day now—i've finally grown up—; turns out, Kirby bought a Pumuckl1 videogame, and used the rest of the money to buy Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. Of course, he'll get the money back from me.
He called me to sit next to him, while he played Lego Marvel Superheroes, during a level set in the Oscorp tower. The Venom symbiote is trapped there, and its escape from confinement, is shown as age appropriate horror. Guess i would have liked someone with me too, had i played such a thing at that age.
Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury—alongside other 3D platformers—are further proof, that we are all there is. While i shit on the gameplay of Bowser's Fury, the staging as a Kaiju event that let's you basically turn into Ultraman when you meet a certain set of conditions you facilitate in between, is well made. Scale, look, and sound work well. And it's neat to lure Bowser to tear down an obstacle with his not-atomic breath every once in a while.
We wonder if Kirby finally internalised why we send him to occupational therapy and do the «training» at home. He asked how long we'll continue to do so, due to him having become «better» at school. Given you recent maths result, you're still on the level you were before, was our answer, followed by a clarification, that this isn't about grades—in a roundabout way though, it certainly is—, rather to develop methods to help him start something and stick with it until it ends.
And now i wonder, will the next big thing be trying to help him listen to himself to check if something is actually worth being pursued?
