how to justify
The last couple of weeks were exhausting.
Work has turned into an even crazier parallel ecosystem. There is a larger than usual thing we support, and while it brought more work for us with it, it's not as taxing as usual, but has a lot of administrative hurdles we need to jump over several times a day. And as if the hurdles wee see aren't enough, there are changes of security zones and the permits needed to enter them. It happened a few times, that the floor coordination person had no idea about that either—in one case, even the coordinator was, in theory, banned from his floor—, blowing up the time-slot to replace a lamp to almost double the allotted amount, which sends ripples down the whole timetable.
As if that is not enough to make people tense, a colleague forgot he was on duty, and came in a few hours late, causing one of the loudest auditive phenomenon in human history, as hundreds of people ripped their schedule sheets to pieces—some bricks in the chinese wall were rattled loose by it. That colleague went on to say that it wasn't that much of a deal that he came in late, while the production crew filed a complaint, and staying with the ripples metaphor, it feels, a tsunami is building up.
I just want to get the job done, and then leave, all that drama is a reason to finally get the help of a mediator, to get the department sorted out.
I've been off pain (self)medication for a month now. It was possible to breathe and move through the fits, a few days ago i caved and took some to deal with a headache that lasted a few days. The pain moved in waves from the crown of- to my forehead.
Kirby got an LCD handheld with not-Tetris, Alleyway, and Space Invaders. He's become a Tetris nut since he has it. You can't turn off the speaker of the device, only reduce the volume from «have your eardrums burst too?» to «this is certainly annoying»; being a clever kid, Kirby cut a cotton pad into shape and glued it on the speaker grille.
In a fit of «being asked for it in a way that made my heart melt», i got a copy of Super Mario 3D Land for Kirby. Kirby digs the 3D Mario games, i rather watch someone play them, than doing it myself; however, Bowser's Fury seems interesting. From what i gathered, Bowser jr. and Mario set aside their animosities, to cure Bowser of … something that made him grow into a giant, has him hibernating for a time, and wreaking havoc when awake. As Mario, you collect bells to unlock a larger bell, that expands Mario's size and puts him in a lion suit to fight Bowser.
Kirby's nightmares have become more frequent, with the odd thing of them happening when Kirby seems calm, while mentioning sleep to have been relaxing when turning and tossing had occurred.
Kirby got his first «bad» grade on a test. It wasn't a surprise—at least for me, when Kirby told me, they didn't have to solve every calculation—, it didn't hit Kirby as hard as i feared it would, still, it was a lesson i learned in my teens, and i hope Kirby profits earlier from it than me.
Kirby and the Wife decided they'd like to paint the HeroQuest miniatures, which lead us to get a few of the Speedpaint Markers from The Army Builder. I tried them, but i prefer a brush. Markers are great for Gunpla and panel lining a Transformer here and there, on such a small scale, i loose a lot of precision—in addition to my bad eyesight having turned worse.
Let's see how i justify getting colours…
Let's see how long Kirby's motivation lasts.
The trailer for the upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action movie didn't instil a good feeling in me. Usually, i try and see trailers as a separate entity—trailers could be considered their own sub genre of movies—, MotU however is far to close to my heart to be allowed that courtesy, therefore it seems to me, this movie follows the tradition of Marvel movies, in making it as generic and humorous as possible—«and whatever that guy is», haha, he singles out the amphibian—and let the visuals do the heavy lifting. And then there's Jared Leto … who betrayed The Method with not having the fleshy part of his head melted off.
I'm tempted to preorder the NeoGeo AES+ … if it wasn't for the games. Perhaps i can get in contact with my former mate from school, and ask him if he's willing to sell his collection in the hopes that he hasn't burned through his family's fortune and remains as generous as when he was a kid. The NeoGeo was great, due to offering you the genuine impression of having an arcade cabinet at home—which it basically was.
Kirby saw his Uncle's Evercade «Game Boy», and now would like one too. I'm considering buying a Myoo Mini+ or Flip and load it up with a few ROMs and a reduced interface—i believe minUI supports both devices.
Due to the podcast Jay & Miles x-plain the X-Men1, i started to re-read New X-Men. It was one of the comics that got me back into reading superhero comics, and although i have read it almost in real time as it was published—in collected editions—, twenty years later i'm surprised by how it still feels new. I stopped reading X-Men regularly afterwards, so i'm not the most trustworthy source on «which are good X-Men runs?»; compared to Hickmanns «reboot» of the Univerxe, it has the same impact, yet is less convoluted—i miss the diagrams.
I forgot what a piece of work Fantomex was—still is?

A plumbing companies truck drove by, with a canoe strapped to its roof rack.
