Yuki fails his university entry exam and gets dumped by his girlfriend. In a frunken stupor he stumbles upon a pamphlet for forestry training, which features a smiling woman. With the hope of meeting her, he starts the training, and makes it through the 30 days of basic training, after which he gets to work for 305 days in one of the most remote and harsh areas.
It's a great comedy with an absurd premise. Some things work and some don't — one in particular … you'll see — , what keeps it from becoming a complete farce, is the experience these people share, surrounded by the forests that have sustained their community. Two thumbs up.
