stale farts

I listened to a podcast by people i haven't in a while. They talked about Tron1, which is a movie that does occupy a special niche in my heart. And while they talked positive about it, i was annoyed by their old men attitude; in particular due to the fact that i'm older than them. Turned the thing off when one of them mentioned that he felt, he was born too late, and would have liked to experience the 70s and 80s as an adult. Thing is, the exposure to pop culture we experience in german speaking Europe now, was a fever dream back then, and all the knowledge they were able to draw from would not have been available to them, also, they would not have been able to remotely talk about it in front of an audience, of which some pay enough for them to continue to do so.
It's upsetting, when «kids» moan around like they're about to retire; «Those modern blockbusters aren't what they used to be.» They're not made for «us» anymore. And sensibilities change. Not necessarily for the better, i admit that, but they talked about a 4k scan of Tron, it's not like the old stuff disappeared.
