Dispatches from Asteroid Hopkins

realigned focus

Kirby and i unpacked the Dragon Ceasar and Daizuzyn figures--Dragonzord and Megazord--from Super7. We were lucky in getting copies without any paint chipping or other issues. And then Daizuzyn's Triceratops leg snapped off. Wrote the vendor if it's possible to get a replacement; otherwise i'll attach it with a pin.
We both like the figures, in my case, i enjoy the accuracy to the suits used in the show; i see why people prefer to see those design with modern articulation, i seem to be in the stage of my life, where i prefer to see the restrictions.
Kirby took a photo of the miniature Green Ranger.

My Syrian colleague has been sitting on needles for the past few days, and is now over the moon due to Assad having fled the country.
I fear that what comes next is the same with another name, who am i to deny him and his family the joy they are experiencing at the moment? And perhaps this is the time, when something better emerges from the rubble and the dirt, it has to happen sometime … right?

The Ultraman Balzar movie was … a disappointment. It had humor and appropriate effect work and the story worked well enough to justify people in suits punching each other, it was the human element that bothered me. What made Ultraman Blazar's human host, Gento, stand out in the franchise was, that the protagonist was the oldest yet, and that he's a father and husband. Being a japanese show, the most interaction he had with his family dealt with him having to suddenly leave for work, furthermore they didn't know he works as a soldier.
In the movie, the son of a CEO that develops weapons from what gets salvaged of the carcasses of dead kaiju, facilitates the monster of the movie and at the end, confesses that he misses his father being present as such in his life. At the beginning of the movie, Gento has to leave for work, leaving his son alone even after he told him, that he fears for his mother's health; the emotional ending with the CEO dad seemingly coming to the decision to realign his focus towards his son, i assumed Gento to try and do the same. Instead he celebrates with his team at his place with his Wife and Son working in the kitchen. The movie ends with Gento's Son accidnetally telling him the reason for Mom's ofd behaviour: she is pregnant. He's overjoyed, probably because he has more offspring to ignore.
