protective reflux
The Wife and Kirby visited the Museum of Art History—which isn't the best translation, looking at their web presence1, they didn't bother to come up with one. Kirby is currently interested in ancient Egypt, and they display a bunch of items, and while they were there, also looked at the Roman and Greek exhibits, with a few sparkles of paintings here and there. Kirby was happy.
I should quit my job, live off my job insurance for six months, and then look for something new. Learned that a "co-worker" campaigned againstw an ex-co-worker, who got sacked in the process, and now he's onto the next target. The Boss doesn't understand how this is his problem. Or should i wait until he comes after me? I have six months of notice period, and buying me out of that won't be cheap.
I finally got the Mafex Astro Boy/Mighty Atom figure, and while enjoying it's presence in my collection of unnecessary things that won't fill the void in my heart i wondered: Why does a robot, modelled after a dead boy, who's being sold off by his creator for not being a fitting replacement of the person he was supposed to emulate, who's mostly depicted "naked" except for a pair of shorts and knee high boots, has guns in his bottom, and is oftentimes displayed sleeping, resonate with so many people?
For me, knowing the story and being a father, Atom triggers a … protective reflex, like in Pluto, when he's confronting Pluto, i see it as the point that marks the story as having a bad ending, due to Atom having to resort to his awesome abilities because everyone else dropped the ball.
You know what? Reading "assignment": Pluto by Naoki Urasawa; there's also a decent adaption on Netflix.
