PCB is the place to see
Repaired the babyphone; the power supply's cable broke at one or more points, so i shortened it and soldered it back onto the PCB.
Philips built the thing well, it wasn't as hard to disassemble the unit -- didn't even leave a mark. Of course i had to desolder the cable a second time, due to forgetting to route the cable through the case. I also forgot, that the power supply was still plugged into the power socket when i desoldered the cable the second time.
Later i told the trainees about my mistakes. And that they should get their eyes checked on a regular basis. Trying to keep the small things in focus put a strain on my peepers.
To my surprise, the unit worked like a charm. The only soldering iron on hand was much too large, i was sure i'd fry the PCB. But it worked out.
Kirby fed me paprika slices while i worked. And he had listened to my warning about the incredibly hot tools i'm using and kept his distance until i told him it was ok to approach me.
