on the run
Yesterday, six police officers showed up at work, asking for a colleague. He isn't what i would call a reasonable person, hence i wasn't as surprised by their interest in him--he and the executive as well as the judicature have a history--; the reason for the inquiry left me speechless. His Wife filed for divorce and he was fired yesterday, to which he reacted with a social-media post saying »Without a wife and a job, i might as well lay down there:« followed by a photograph of a railway track. Nobody at work was able to reach him, his Wife had no idea where he was, which lead to his department head calling the police.
We haven't heard any news yet.
I wasn't close with him, and he … is kind of an asshole, yet, i understand the desperation he seems to experience at the moment--mentions/threats of suicide need to be taken seriously, even if the turn out to be just that--; probably on a low level for a long time already. I hope he pulls through; at least for his kid.
I read interviews with several people who had a parent commit suicide, and all of them keep asking themselves, although they understand the reason, if their parent didn't love them enough to keep on living. Imagining Kirby asking that question is one of the few straws that keeps me above, and i guess it's better to be a »reasonably« bad father than a dead father.
[Update] He is alive.
