Dispatches from Asteroid Hopkins

magical mystery tour

We introduced Kirby to the behemoth that is Talisman - The magical quest game1 — in its revised fourth edition. When we told him about the different classes of characters he's able to play, he was on board, and with every box i took down from the cupboard you could see the enthusiasm fade a bit. During setup, the Wife suggested playing the basic game and let all the add-ons and expansions be for his first game. Sorting through the cards took the last bits of joy away from Kirby.

He regained a tad back, once we started playing, and soon left again due to it being a slowly developing game and in the beginning it's like being dropped naked in the outback, everything is out to get you. I played the only character that made sense for being dropped into such a hostile environment: the philosopher.

After thirty minutes, Kirby asked us to stop playing, and we got out UNO.
Fantasy Flight lost the Games Workshop license, so i wonder if anyone else picked it up and is publishing Talisman at the moment … there is a fifth edition on the market, which is supposed to be easier. I'd like them to bring back the Timescape2 expansion, which introduced 40k figures.
