Dispatches from Asteroid Hopkins

freak out

Somehow, i couldn't shake the awkwardness i often experience when working in heights. Perhaps because i first used a ladder, and then decided that i feel safer scaling the scaffolding and securing myself with a harness/by using a leg as a hook.

Fraction shifted into 13th gear in Batman no.2 (2025); i take back everything i anticipated this to be, and try to read every issue on release day.

Absolute Evil left me cold. I was fine with every Absolute title existing in it's little pocket universe, only dipping a toe in bigger continuity when it serves the story, bringing it together however … comics are weird, and i love them for it, but there is only so much weirdness one can make work for themselves. Resident Alien - The Book of Changes no.2 was … ok. It's a relaxing read every time. Do i wish we got the fish out of water segment of the story in another setting, yes, and there is still enough time to explore it further.

Listened to an interview with people from the 68 movement, and was amazed by them saying, the majority of people are optimists and want things to change for the better, people between 20 and 30 in particular. Where are all those people when it comes to vote for a government that reflects this. It's most like due to social factors—living a blue collar life, in a blue collar part of town—, most 20 to 30 year olds aren't optimistic, and topics like climate change are low on their list; what is interesting to them is: Does what i do change anything? Am i just a consumer? How high will prices for food, energy and rent rise? How can i manage sending my Kid to a "good" school, and still stay employed? How can i even build a basis from which my Kid can elevate itself above me? Will either i or my offspring experience war? Will we be able to "afford" social security? Even my older Brother-in-law, who sees work as payed for occupational therapy since he sold his company, asks those questions.
I must admit, i'm freaking out, since i know that something must be done, and nobody realised that a video on YouTube, a podcast episode or a blog won't change anything, no matter how often something is proclaimed there.
