focusing attention
Since my commute will be troubled by renovation work starting next week, i decided to test out the footpath to work again. It's around six kilometers / 3,7 miles / 6562 yards, and i was able to walk it in 49 minutes. It felt good, though not for my body. My frame is in even worse shape than i anticipated. My hope is, that i will walk to work three to four times a week.
I tried and talk with Kirby about his ADD. — Attention Deficiency Disorder — When i passed by his room, i saw him ripping out a few hairs while reading, which he also did when i was on my way back to the living room. Now, i pull out nose hair when i read without noticing doing so — until i hurt myself in the process. I asked if it has a calming effect on him, to which he said yes, not only does it take the edge off, it also helps with focusing his attention. He also asked how i keep my mind from wandering, i told him i can't force it to stay put, i can only try and overdo the task at hand, like starting to make the voices more outlandish when i read something to Kirby.
We afterwards watched a video of someone building a Lego set we'd like to buy someday.
The Wife slowly turned into a videogame enthusiast over the last couple of days.
I also haven't noticed, that we, 20 years ago, agreed to add to our relationship the words "steady" and "romantic". It seems we're both in denial about the timespan, it was only yesterday we … became parents … ok, it was the day before yesterday she turned around and went all in by kissing me, while Johnny Cash was on as background music.
Started to read a book1 by a judge who's specialised in paedophilia; in the book he explains the legal language, and why it needs to be changed to take away power from the accused, and in the process, hand it over to the ones they hurt. And the reader also gets a crash course in how perpetrators, and the networks they often operate in, work. Not an easy read, being made even harder, due to most cases happening in settings with people you wouldn't consider a possible perpetrator.
On a »happier« note, i got Christmas in august2 on blu-ray, which is one of my favourite movies from last year, and probably on my list of all time favourite movies.
