Dispatches from Asteroid Hopkins

by the rules

Kirby and i needed some time to get into our individual grooves, once we found it, we boogied.
He understood why i wouldn't get him new Pokémon cards—he has a slew of them, and recently told us, he's to old for Pokémon … and he already got a Lego set on tuesday. It was hard to say no.
Kirby managed to do his homework at a speed and with an attention he has not mustered for a while. I was so happy.
Around lunchtime, we went to my parent's place. Played Uno—one of the longest, most exciting games of my life—, let our legs dangle in the water for a while, soaking in what seemed like the last time the sun would unleash its full fury on us. We used the trampoline, despite my head still feeling off from yesterday's exercise.
My Dad told me about having troubles with a fresh set of rechargeable batteries he got. The charger won't recognize the cells; i assumed they were deep discharged. A quick look with a Voltmeter showed, i had the right hunch; so i put them into my "will-charge-a-wooden-stick" charger to give them an initial boost, and afterwards, refreshed them with the "by-the-rules" charger.
Like agreed on, we watched TMNT: Mutant Mayhem1. We anticipated Kirby to ask for a time out after the first five minutes, he watched the whole thing; excited, yet with a sort of calmness not often seen when he watches something. After the movie was over, he asked all the questions and discussed the answers with me. Shredder's absence annoyed him, due to all the other incarnations he's aware of feature him as the major bad guy. He didn't take long with falling asleep either, only asking two or three follow up questions. He was glad, that all the mutants got along at the end and the Turtles could go to school.

Listened to another interview with Matt Fraction about his upcoming number one issue of Batman. After Zdarksy's work on Bats, that already sent some fans into running in circles, this is going to be another round of "Batman doesn't sit!" bullshit-festival. I'm currently reading Zdarsky's Batman, and have my own criticism; having him do a basejump onto earth from the moon isn't on my list though. Curious, the people who see a misrepresentation of Batman in that time complain about one of the most badass things he did.
